Rack Networking
at a Glance
A fault-tolerant underlay network optimizes packet delivery between physical hosts within and across racks. Packets between VM instances are encapsulated onto overlay networks, governed by policies that you define.
DDM
Delay Driven Multipath performs underlay routing, measures delay, calculates multipath decisions and helps to avoid congestion.
OPTE
The Oxide Packet Transformation Engine implements firewall rules, encapsulates packets onto Geneve overlays, implements VPC routing and performs address translation.
P4-Based Switch Management
The built-in switch management platform drives the P4-programmable rack switch from a PCIe connected compute sled. Loads and manages data-plane P4 programs.
Integrates the attached compute sled's network stack with the switch ASIC to support stateful protocols such as NDP and BGP.
Hardware and
Software Co-design
- Holistic network design
- Transparency into components
- Optimal distribution of network functions across hardware and software
- Fit-for-purpose design improves efficiency
Rack Switch
Oxide’s rack level switch. There are two per rack. 32 ports of QSFP in the front, 32 ports for the cabled backplane in the rear. Connected to compute sleds via PCIe.
Patch Panel
Fiber patch panel with a modular approach that adapts to your needs, be it connecting to another Oxide rack or into your network. High throughput with 64 ports of fiber to the switches.
